Formal reportPosted by Terese Wignot, 9/3/02 at 12:46:41 PM. Formal Report: (30%)The format will follow the instructions given to authors in the journal Biochemistry. The report will include an abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion and reference sections. All sections except references are written in prose. The report must be typed on a word processor. Abstract: The abstract is a short summary of the experiment approximately 250 words long. It includes a description of the experimental procedure, results and conclusions. Introduction: The introduction gives background material on the experiment, including references, as well as the purpose for the experiment. Materials & Methods: The materials and methods section describes the procedure, in detail. Also a description of any special chemicals or equipment used in the experiment is discussed. Results: The results of the experiment are discussed and the data is discussed with supporting graphs, tables and/or charts. Discussion: The discussion includes all conclusions that can be drawn from the results of the experiment and sites literature references that either support or dispute the author's findings.
