THE SUN - EARTH CONNECTION
Your team will divide the task among your members as follows:
Team Member 1: Determine the nature of the sun's energy source and internal structure, and energy transfer mechanisms.
Team Member 2: Define and describe the major visible physical features of the sun.
Team Member 3: Examine and describe the effects of the interaction between the solar wind and the earth including its effects on the atmosphere and our technology (electrical distribution/communication systems)
Team Member 4: Examine and describe the changes undergone by the sun through time, determining the time scale of the solar cycle and when the next period of minimum and maximum activity will occur. This may include investigating how we study the sun and spacecraft involved in these studies.
Using the links in the introduction and the resources listed on the Resource page, each team member will gather and organize information related to his/her specific task. Once completed, team members will combine their information into a written report with the following sections:
Section 1: The Structure and Energy of the Sun
Section 2: Physical Characteristics of the Sun
Section 3: The Effects of Solar Activity on Earth
Section 4: The Solar Cycle and What It Means to Us
