Follow the steps below to complete your project on Italy:

  1. Purchase a three ring binder.

  2. Divide your binder into nine sections using section organizers.
    • The sections should consist of the nine areas of research listed on the task page of this site.
    • Be sure to label each section.

  3. Find a map of Europe on the Internet, and print it out.
    • Place an indicator, preferably a sticker, over Italy to highlight its location in Europe.
    • This map will be placed in the first section of your binder.

  4. Find a map of Italy on the Internet, and print it out.
    • Be sure the map shows the location of ten major cities in Italy.
    • Place an indicator, preferably a sticker, over the capital of Italy to highlight its location.
    • This map will be placed in the second section of your binder.

  5. Find a picture of the Italian flag on the Internet. On a piece of white construction paper, draw and color a copy of this flag. Place your flag in the third section of your binder.

  6. Research the history of Italy on the web. Write a two page summary from the information you gather.
    • The topics you choose to include in your paper is up to you, but you should include a small section, at least, on the Roman Empire.
    • Place this summary in the fourth section of your binder.

  7. Research at least three historical landmarks of Italy on the Internet. Some examples include The Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Colosseum.
    • Provide a short written summary for each landmark.
    • Find a photograph of the landmark on the Internet, and print it out. Paste the photograph above your summary.
    • Include this in the fifth section of your binder.

  8. Research one city, in Italy, of your choice on the web. Write a short summary for your city. Include some of the following in your summary:
    • population
    • places of interest
    • historical importance of the city
    • Include this summary in this sixth section of your binder

  9. Research the Italian language on the web. On a piece of construction paper, write down 15 common phrases that would be helpful to you while visiting the country.
    • Be sure to include the English translation for each phrase.
    • Include your translations in the seventh section of your binder.

  10. Research the web to find the types of foods that are served in the restaurants in Italy. On a sheet of construction paper, create a menu listing any foods that would be of interest to you during your visit.
    • Be sure to notice any dishes that are also served in our Italian-American restaurants.
    • Include your menu in the eigth section of your binder.

  11. Research the kind of money that is used in Italy. Create a chart showing how much these amounts are worth in American money.
    • Include your currency chart in the ninth and final section of your binder.
