What's New?
November 2007
Keep those requests coming! We would like to welcome Towanda Area Junior/Senior High School and Stroudsburg Area Junior High to their recent use of our program! We also look forward to a demonstration here on campus for Solomon Elementary this month organized through SIM and the Wilkes Chemistry Club.
We are currently batting around some new ideas regarding our seminar and workshops. Any feedback or suggestions are always welcome!
January 2008 Welcome back! We wish everyone a happy and healthy new year. At the end of this month we are spending an entire week at Blue Mountain High School in Schuylkill County. On their end it has been deemed "Chemistry Week". It has been a tricky first semester but our contract has finally come through from the state.
For our workshops this year we are planning the general biology and chemistry workshops for the very last week of June. The Advanced Chemistry workshop will be held the second to last week of June this year. We reversed them this year because we had several disappointed teachers who were unable to attend last year because we set our workshop dates too early. We will be mailing out applications in the spring for both workshops via e-mail and snail mail.
March 2008 Workshop applications are on their way. Be sure to get them filled out and submitted on time! Included in our workshop application mailing is a letter requesting your support. SIM is (once again) not in the governor's budget for 2008-2009. If you click on the Help Support Us link on our website a template sample letter is available. We have also updated that page with the representatives and senators for each school and district we have serviced this school year. Your letters keep our program afloat!
