Message from the Chair

Welcome to the Susquehanna Valley Local Section of the American Chemical Society! Located in northeastern Pennsylvania, our section includes such schools as Bloomsburg University, Bucknell University, King's College, Lycoming College, Marywood University, Misericordia University, Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Penn State Hazelton, University of Scranton, Wilkes University, and Susquehanna University. Through our Website, you can access information about our officers, members, and monthly section meetings. Also, there are links to the ACS Website and to the homepage of almost every institution in our section.

IMPORTANT NEWS

The possible fate of funding for the Joseph Priestley House has been announced by the The Bureau of Historic Sites and Museums (BHSM) of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC). Please take some time to read this story. This important site within our Local Section deserves our support.

2009 Conference on Undergraduate Research and Education in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

The Department of Chemistry at Wilkes University encourages students and faculty in Pennsylvania and surrounding regions to join in a one-day symposium on 21 November 2009. This is our 6th annual NMR conference event in eastern PA!. As with our prior conferences, this event will focus on the increasing efforts of educators at principally undergraduate institutions (PUIs) to engage in research and education that exploits modern nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

There are no registration fees and no required memberships.

Electronic Monthly Newsletter

The Susquehanna Valley Local Section requests that you consider receiving our monthly newsletter by email. You will receive your newletter at least a few days prior to the normal arrival rate for the hard-copy version. Also, if you are willing to forego the hardcopy altogehter you will save our secretary time and our Local Section will save the expenses of photocopying and postage.
