The SV Local Section has just officially received a $500 grant from ACS to run a Science Cafe for 2008. Rob Humphreys and Ron Supkowski will be planning the details, hopefully with input and help from the entire section
Student Affiliate chapter in the Susquehanna Valley Section win award for their accomplishments for the 2006-2007 academic year The staff of the ACS Undergraduate Programs Office recently announced that the Wilkes University Student Affiliates chapter won a Honorable Mention Award for their accomplishments for the 2006-2007 academic year. The complete list of student affiliate chapters recognized across the U.S. will be published in the November/December 2007 issue of in Chemistry magazine as well as C&E News. Please join us as we honor this award winning chapter. These Student Affiliates will be recognized at the award ceremony at the spring National Meeting in New Orleans on Sunday April 6, 2008.
The Dept. of Chemistry at Bucknell University hosted students and faculty for a one-day symposium on Saturday, 29 September 2007 to recognize the use of NMR in research and curricular experiences for undergraduate students. The day-long program included presentations from representatives in the local section and the great Mid-Atlantic Region. Student research posters from all disciplines of chemistry describing research for which NMR was some component of the investigation were displayed during a lunch-time session. 2008 Middle Atlantic Regional Meeting to be held May 17 - 21, 2008 at Queensborough Community College of the City University of New York Bayside, NY
![]() The New York Section of the ACS is proud to host the 40th Middle Atlantic Regional Meeting on the campus of Queensborough Community College. The theme of MARM 2008 is Chemistry and Health, owing to the importance and impact of the health sciences in the New York metropolitan area. Symposia and plenary talks are planned in this field and others, including bio-mimetic catalysis, chemical education, chemistry and the arts, clinical chemistry, forensic chemistry, green chemistry, HIV/AIDS, ionic liquids, medicinal chemistry, nanoscience and technology, polymer chemistry, and process chemistry.
