Meeting Information

• Sept. 11, 2001 - joint meeting with the Corning Section at Shepard Hills Country Club in Waverly, NY. The event will include golfing, dinner and the featured speaker, Michael Destafano on the Secret Service Agency. The title of his talk is "Knowing Your Money". Get details.

• Oct. 10, 2001 - at Bucknell University. The event will include dinner and the featured speaker will be Dr. Janet Woodcock. The title of her talk is "Regulation of Pharmaceutical Quality". Get details.
• November 5, 2001 - joint meeting with the Corning Section. The event will include dinner and the featured speaker is ACS Past President Dr. Attila E. Pavlath. The title of his talk is "Public Image of Chemists and Chemistry". Get details.
• December 5, 2001 - Lycomming College. The event will include dinner and the featured speakers are Drs. Jeffrey Newman and Holly Bendorf of Lycoming College. The title of the talk is "Chemical and Biological Warfare Agents". Get details.
• February 19, 2002 - Susquehanna. The event will include dinner and the featured speaker is Dr. Mark Maroncelli. The title of his talk is "Supercritical Solvents". Note: this meeting falls on a Tuesday. Get details.

NOTICE: The Merck-Bucknell Lecture scheduled for Dec. 5, 2001 by Dr. Joseph D. Armstrong has been cancelled, and will be rescheduled for sometime in the spring.

Special Event Fall 2001

The Central Pennsylvania, Lehigh Valley, and Susquehanna Valley Sections of the American Chemical Society, the Friends of Joseph Priestley House, and the Pennsylvania State University Chemistry Department held a Celebration of THE DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY OF A "GOLDEN JUBILEE" AND THE 125TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE AMERICAN CHEMICAL SOCIETY INCLUDING REENACTMENT OF THE 1926 "GREAT TRAIN RIDE" OF THE ACS AT JOSEPH PRIESTLEY HOUSE ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2001 472 Priestley Ave., Northumberland, PA 17857.
