Darin E. Fields' Astrophotography Pages

The Quickcam Page

I stopped working with the Quickcam when I acquired my ST-237 in 2000. For what's it worth, I learned a lot about CCD imaging principles from the quickcam simply because it was so hard to get to work well that you had to know all the basics to succeed. Quickcam astrocams will teach you about darkframing, flatfielding, stacking, averaging, noise--you name it. Additionally, quickcams and webcams are excellent planetary imagers. I don't do much planetary imaging since my seeing conditions rarely, if ever, allow it. I have decided to keep these pages alive with the thought that my insights, however meager, may help someone else. I posted the HTML from my old site with little or no modification, so bear with the odd formatting on some of these pages.
Good Luck!
