Professional Development Program
Accounting majors at Wilkes receive experience and training in the accounting field throughout their collegiate career. Students spend their freshman year orienting themselves to college and the community by participating in an organized club or activity. The sophomore year involves students with job shadowing of a local accounting firm. By the time the junior year ends, most accounting majors have part-time jobs in accounting. These jobs may be for credit through our co-operative education program. Finally, the senior year arrives. Students participate in competitive internship interviews with students from other colleges. These internships allow the student to work full-time during the spring semester while taking the final two courses on the Internet. Wilkes has a 99.99% placement rate with the internship and many of the internships lead to full-time accounting positions. Students should contact Dr. Rexer (rexer@wilkes.edu) for more information.
