Blood Imagery
Blood is a recurring image in Julius Caesar. It is an image strand that can be found throughout the text, so it becomes clear that Shakespeare wanted to say something using the image of blood. But what did he want to say, or convey to his audience?

To make some observations about this, I am going to take a look at some of the criticism on the images of Shakespeare, while mainly focusing on blood, and look at some passages where the word 'blood' is present and discuss what purpose they serve in the text.
These are the critics:
Gail Kern Paster, author of "In the Spirit of Men there is no blood": Blood as Trope of Gender In JuliusCaesar
John Erskine Hankins, author of Shakespeare's Derived Imagery
Clifford J. Ronan, author of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, I.i.51
This is my interpretation of 'blood' in the text:
"Blood As A Prophecy Of Death"
