Jc Trumpet Picture 2:

Janell Carter served on the faculty at the Wilkes University Conservatory and Community School of the Arts in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania where she taught trumpet. She had earned a Master of Music in Music Performance from Ball State University. Janell has studied trumpet with Laurie Frink, Paul Everett, and Keith Whitford. She had lessons with John McNeil, Larry McWilliams, Bruce Whisler, Susan Slaughter, and Steve Weger.

Janell had performed professionally in the area for the River Street Stompers--a New Orleans style brass band--and as a substitute trumpet for the Penn Dixie Dixieland Band and the Endless Mountains Brass Ensemble. In addition to these professional opportunities, she served as co-lead trumpet with the Wilkes University Jazz Orchestra. Janell has performed professionally outside of the area with the Muncie Symphony Orchestra for one year and has served as a substitute trumpet for the Kokomo Park Band in Indiana (performing several summers, multiple times), the Richmond Symphony Orchestra (performing once with the orchestra), and the Master Chorale Works Orchestra (performing at least once with this ensemble). She has been featured as a soloist with the Ball State Symphony Orchestra as winner of the BSU Undergraduate Concerto Competition. Janell also played split-lead trumpet for Ball State's Studio Jazz Ensemble.
