This site began as a series of lectures I gave at Wilkes University in the Fall of 1995. The Web had just begun to explode and many people were trying to figure out how to put up web pages.

I have updated the pages in the Summer of 2000. I use the first lecture whenever I want to introduce people to the Web: its history and how it works.
